stan grossman: ceo & forester

Stan earned his Associate in Applied Science Forestry degree from Vermilion Community College in 1988. He spent the first part of his career completing forest inventory contracts for government agencies throughout greater Minnesota as a sole proprietor. This experience gave Stan a well-rounded firsthand knowledge of the diverse and complex nature of Minnesota’s woodlands. Stan started Itasca Woodland Services, Inc. in 1996, naming the company as such in tribute to Itasca State Park, which had a huge influence on his love for the north woods when, as a child, his family would vacation there.

Stan is a member of the National Association of Consulting Foresters, Society of American Foresters, MN Deer Hunter’s Association, Ruffed Grouse Society, and is a Board Member of the Minnesota Forestry Association – the state’s oldest conservation organization whose mission is to educate and advocate for private woodland owners in the state.

As CEO, Stan’s primary responsibility is to provide leadership and vision to the company, but he is still very much involved in the day to day operations and project management. Stan is a certified MN Stewardship Plan writer and is passionate about assisting families and individuals in managing their properties according to their goals, sound principals, and a robust stewardship ethic.

Stan is currently serving on the Itasca Master Woodland Owners Course Steering Committee and is a commercially licensed UAV (drone) pilot. In his free time he enjoys being with family, wild mushroom hunting, and playing drums.
