For both the SFIA and 2c Tax Class, there are important deadlines to be aware of for both the initial enrollment and yearly updates to maintain eligibility.

When your Stewardship Plan is written and sent to you, it’s not quite as simple as completing the SFIA or 2c enrollment processes to receive your financial benefits. Your plan must be registered with the DNR in order to be enrolled in any financial incentive programs.

If a stand is left in a densely-stocked condition, the trees will not grow at the rate of their potential and may suffer from drought stress and/or become susceptible to insects or other health issues. Regular, well timed thinning operations are critical for producing high quality wood products and healthy trees.

This is a great program for larger properties or those with low tax values.  There are 3 different minimum enrollment periods (8, 20, and 50 years), with higher payments for longer enrollment periods.

This classification taxes your property at a 35% reduction from the more common "Rural Vacant Land" classification.  It's a must or anyone who owns woodland acreage in Minnesota!

A plan that adheres to your personal property goals. This is also required in order to qualify for any Financial Incentive Programs.
